логический номер, идентифицирующий процесс внутри хоста для каждого типа соединения, запрашиваемого удалённым компьютером в Интернете. Широко распространённые протоколы имеют стандартизованные номера портов, так протокол НТТР использует порт 80, протокол SMTP - порт 25. Номера портов выдаёт организация IANA, они включаются в заголовки каждого Интернет-пакета и говорят принимающей программе, куда следует доставить поступающие данные.
